As a fifth generation farmer there is no surprise from a very young age Kate has had a great interest in all things agriculture. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Adelaide as well as being a Healthy River Ambassador. Kate has strong views when it comes to water management and has done talks to schools and community events regarding the Darling River and Menindee lakes.

In 2017 Kate was elected by fellow landholders onto the Western Local Land Services (LLS) Board and is now the youngest board member since the organisation began. Since then Kate has also become chair of the Western Regional Weeds Committee.

Kate is also a member of the newly formed WoolPoll committee.
